COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT
ARETÈ FÚTBOL Coaches possess a unique role of responsibility, serving as models of character, culture, and values of sportsmanship as well as competitiveness. Their actions set a standard, which players and parents will inevitably model.
AGREEMENT:
By agreeing to coach in the ARETÈ FÚTBOL, I agree to:
- Know and follow the rules of the game
- Compete fairly
- Set an example of sportsmanship by treating players, opponents, and officials with respect
- Be more concerned about the well being of one’s players than in one’s win-loss record
- Be responsible for the conduct of players and parents on the field of play
- Commit to improving one’s soccer and coaching knowledge
- Attend league meetings and follow league rules
PROHIBITIONS:
Coaches are specifically prohibited from:
- Using profanity or abusive language
- Using negative or belittling comments towards players during the game and at practices
- Using taunting, derogatory remarks or gestures toward opposing players, coaches or officials
- Questioning the honesty or capability of referees; arguing with referees or officials
- Falsifying player passes or records or playing with ineligible players
- Cheating or encouraging players to cheat
- Inciting players to commit fouls or injure opposing players
- Entering the field of play without the referee’s permission
- Coaching up and down the sidelines or from behind the goal.
- Using mechanical or electronic amplification devices from sidelines
Using alcohol or tobacco at ARETÈ FÚTBOL youth functions:
- Unfairly recruiting players, as defined by ARETÈ FÚTBOL policies
DISCIPLINARY ACTION:
If a coach is found to be in violation of these agreements, league officials may ask that the coach appear before the Policy and Discipline (PAD) Committee. At this meeting, the coach will have the opportunity to present his or her case. The PAD Committee is responsible for determining if a violation actually occurred and to impose disciplinary measures, if warranted. Disciplinary measures may include:
- Written reprimand
- Probationary period
- Temporary suspension from coaching
- Permanent suspension from coaching
The decision of the ARETÈ FÚTBOL may be appealed to the ARETÈ FÚTBOL Board of Directors. ARETÈ FÚTBOL decisions may be used as the basis of the Coaching Director’s recommendations to the Board of Directors that a coach not be allowed to coach during subsequent seasons. In this case, the Board of Directors will meet to decide by vote if the coach is to be suspended from further coaching. I have read the Coaches Code of Conduct and agree to abide by it.
